WordPress, WooCommerce or plain PHP: which Hostoa plan fits your site?

A simple guide to choosing between our WordPress, web and reseller plans, and between Starter, Plus and Pro, without paying for more than you need.

Choosing a plan should take a minute, not an afternoon. Here is how we would pick, in plain language.

Step one: what is your site built with?

  • A WordPress site or blog → choose a WordPress plan. It is set up for WordPress, and WordPress is installed for you when the site is created.
  • A WooCommerce shop → also a WordPress plan. WooCommerce is WordPress, and these plans are ready for it. Shops need more headroom than blogs, so consider a bigger size.
  • A custom PHP site, or plain HTML files → choose a web hosting plan. You get an empty website to fill with your own files, with the PHP version of your choice.
  • Hosting sites for your clients → choose a reseller plan. You create separate accounts for each client in your own panel.

Step two: pick a size

All three families come in Starter, Plus and Pro:

  • Starter is the right place to start for a single, typical site.
  • Plus gives you more room and allows more websites on one plan. Pick it for a growing site, a busy shop, or if you run a few sites.
  • Pro is for demanding sites and for people who want the most headroom and extras.

You can move up a size later from your dashboard, so there is no need to guess high. Your dashboard also tells you when a plan is full and what the next size would give you.

Step three: do not forget the domain

You can enter your domain when you order, and we will set the website up straight away. If you need a new domain, you can register it with us. You can also leave the domain for later, and the plan waits for you.

A few rules of thumb

  1. One site and a small budget? Starter on the plan that matches your software.
  2. A shop? Plus on a WordPress plan is a comfortable starting point.
  3. Three or more sites? Check how many websites each size allows, and compare with the next size up.
  4. Not sure? Ask. Open the chat on our site or send a ticket, and tell us what you are building.
